after tackling a light that looked like it had returned from helmsdeep this one looks pretty good ; personally i think
lights and stds respond nicely to some quality refurb skills as their relatively simple classic lines are easy to bring back.
mine had deep rust pits ,but after acid etching and linishing she had a look all of her own.

Is there any evidence of the stock being snapped in two at all as what you're describing sound like cleats to me (for joining two pieces of wood together..
It's a shame and whoever did it should be castrated using one of those bits of Aly

No sign at all, even worse is the stock has a lovely grain (dried out) and even has the proper butt-plug. I could only guess that the moron thought it might add grip. I was/maybe tempted to strip her for spares
