You did indeed, David, and I am most grateful to you for all your "behind the scenes" help in that area, too.

Here you go folks, and two days earlier than expected. From left to right below then, are pictures of my pre-war straight-grip Mk.I .177 (x2 pics), then a close-up of the bespoke made original pattern Mk.I grip featuring the original brass flying pellet button that it wears, as mentioned in my earlier post, then two photos of my lovely pre-war straight-grip Senior in .22, and finally a photo of my second set of bespoke made original pattern Mk.I grips which feature the brass coloured plastic flying pellet button, as also mentioned in my earlier post. Hope you like them.

I believe patriotism comes from the heart. Patriotism is voluntary. It is a feeling of loyalty and allegiance that is the result of knowledge and belief.

I picked up a rough "repairs or spares" 1928 Mk 1 on the BB's a while ago. Main work was some tricky welding ( someone much better than me did it ) and filing; a replacement barrel, I used a shorter one in .177, and complete refinish with a hot browning solution. Finally made some posh maple grips. It's a keeper.

Looks good now! Why did it need so much work, what was it like when you got it?

It looked like the barrel had smashed into the breech seal housing, this had been hacksawed back 1/4 inch so I had it built up with weld and had to reshape it and then file the internal grooves for the sliding catch to fit into; took a while! The cylinder had been sandpapered ( they used coarse grade I think ) and there was some pitting to get out in places. The original .22 barrel was pitted in the rifling so replaced. Luckily the cylinder internals and piston were like new so now it shoots very well.

    cheers torrens

    Whoa!

In which case my hat is off to you.
You've done an amazing job and it looks great. I even like the browned finish as a change to the usual bluing!
    Excellent 5*!
