As long as there is a market for people prepared to pay over the odds, nothing will change.

It's very easy to import. Take the scare stories with a pinch of salt. Protect yourself by paying with a credit card, and expect a delay during transit. You will save hundreds. I did. Try and find a brand new Feinwerkbau 700 Alu for £1500 to £1600 delivered in the UK...

Just be aware that in the event of warranty issues, the official UK channel will not support you. And nor should they - they didnt make a penny after all.

Very interesting side discussion on importing air rifles in this thread.
With the apparent exception, perhaps, of Steyr, match air rifles can be purchased from Germany at significant savings.
If I were interested (and knew what to buy!) then I think I must seriously consider buying from Germany (Scheisssport seems a likely candiate) although the Steyr would be worth looking at too.
The apparent failure of the manufacturers to honour warranties within the EU strikes be as a breach of EU law but, unlike motor vehicles where the market is huge with consequently larger consumer pressure within the UK to protest and effect change, I doubt the situation will change for us.
Any chance of the NSRA or NRA making representations to the EC?
Would FWB, Walther or Anschultz invite a fine that VAG had to pay (if my memory serves me right) some time back?
In reality, we are too small a market (sub-niche?) to force change, I suspect.
Still, for "those who dare" (or choose Steyr) German imports may well be the answer:if they grow the UK dealers may have to talk to their suppiers to keep their market share.

DPD no longer allows as a company policy (NOT German law), to ship air rifles outside & within the EEC.

This service is now being offered by another German courier company that: http://www.sport-jagdwaffen.de/ uses, called: www.overnite-worldwide.de

Ok, so It has become a monopoly for this company...but at least air rifles are still obtainable from Germany, albeit, at an extra Euro 75 (the cost used to be Euro 30).

The price to your UK doorstep, is now Euro 105 on page 4 > http://www.army-store.com/images/preisliste.pdf

So,with the Euro getting hammered, there still could be slim, moderate to substantial savings to be made after your UK bank gives you a pathetic exchange rate, + cost of wire transfer, etc...depending on weight of parcel and what items you buy abroad.

As a back up, I would start considering using > http://www.euroshooting.eu/en/index.php (Miroslav Varga - ex Olympic Gold medal champion - 100% safe & reliable).

Why ? transport from Czech Republic (EEC), is roughly in the Euro 30 / 40 range - and have already used these guys.

The next closest place is Holland. Absolutely no problem with any DUTCH courier company delivering any air rifles to UK.

    2 shops spring to mind

    - http://www.krale-schietsport.nl/ (not the cheapest ! but has 10m guns as well as the FT range)

    - http://airgunheaven.com/ (stocks EDgun bullpups !)

Finally, for spares (back to Germany), there is this guy who is transparent and prices with exploded diagrams all the parts:

Remember, buying long distance from with EEC is 100% legitimate; for any air rifle, I always ask the shop to include a signed shop letter with receipt stating the rifle is "UK legal, non FAC" rated , etc...only as a precaution and for peace of mind.

Hmmmmm, if only the UK had some top quality air rifle manufacturers of there own.!

Regulated @6-8 ft/llb, dovetail to accept popular makes of sights so no need to make own brand and knowledge of a chap or two who can make a nice stock.

    It'll never happen.

    Bing!

The NSRA are importers trading as Bisley Sports, when did you last hear of a Turkey voting for Xmas?

Nothing will change here as the market is much too small, I do have some sympathy for the importers as they are unable to act as a true import wholesaler as they don't get the same price as big EU wholesalers buying in bigger numbers, due to the low demand they can not buy in enough bulk to reduce their cut, so they are stuck buying to fill orders of ones and twos and then get stuffed with the transport.
The simple way is go over and buy what you want, visit a club, have a holiday and bring it back in your car, it must be in a secure locked case, but remember to declare at ships security or the airline and also at customs although its perfectly legal and there is no duty to pay, but it is an offence to not declare.
    Good Shooting
