    Compare dan Wesson to brocock

I used to have a few tac pistols for tin can shooting and loved them. I've seen the new 2.5 Wesson and it looks a bit like the ME38 I had.

Has anyone used both? Could you tell me if I'd be dissapointed if I got one?

    Thanks

i have both- the wesson is good, but nowhere near as powerful as the brocock, nor as accurate. doesn't go off with such a loud wallop, either. but it's easier to load (no pumping up cartridges), & still a great gun.

The DW is good fun but nowhere near the quality of the brocock pistols. I sold all of my brocock tac guns about 12 years ago so I am only going of memory.

Don't let that put you off a DW though, they are really good for the money (and great fun if you modify the cartridges to fire darts).

+1, though I've never tried darts!

The Brocock's were modified firearms, and built accordingly. The DW's are uprated airsoft toys, and built accordingly.

Not all of them are the ME38 is made of pot metal but some of the larger cowboy type revolvers are modified firearms if you doubt me look here at the Pietta and Uberti guns.

That last link brings back some memories, I can remember drooling all over the Predator while I was saving up for it. Inconsistant as hell but great fun to shoot, especially with a healthy supply of magazines and TACs.

Also loads of those awful pot metal blank firers on there, the Recks and Valtros were OK but the others were truely awful when you handled them.

Anyone remember the single shot break action shotgun that took a TAC ??? I dont think brocock made it but it looked really good.

That nearly made me cry! I really miss the tac pistols. I had a specialist as well, but never got to own the Orion 3!

I would just love to have one of those Umberti Revolvers with about fifty Tacs that should give me about half an hour of fun shooting its such a shame that they cannot come up with a decent air/gas powered revolver.

I do like the Dan Wesson its just a pity that they could not have made a version that had a riffled barrel and cartridges that take pellets I do like the S&W revolver but umerex had to mess it up by making the grip to fit a guerilla if they can do it on the DW why can they not do it on the S&W .

Perhaps if I should live that long someone will make what I want but then if that was to happen the government would probably ban them before I could get one.

the dan wesson revolvers can easily be converted to rifled barrels, & the cartridges modified to take pellets. magicniner in this forum does both conversions.

Brocock TAC - BAC & Dan Wesson co2 pistols

I haven't owned a Brocock ME38 but I have handled the Dan Wesson, vintage Brococks, and Saxby Palmer 54 air pistols. Their loadable shells and full size revolving cylinders add greatly to their overall appeal. I like the Dan Wessons alot but the Brocock BAC/TAC pistols (Pietta - Uberti conversions) are in my opinion are among the nicest airguns ever made. Blued steel construction (some even case hardened), brass fittings, grips of hardwood & faux ivory, replica "old west" style patterns, etc.... Hats off too Dan Wesson for engineering such a nice alternative to the relatively scarce and often restricted vintage Brococks. New production CO2 versions of something like the Mateba Autorevolver, Chiappa Rhino, Smith & Wesson 3rd Model Russian, or Lamat Revolvers would make great replica airguns too.

Agree 100% I quite like the Dan Wessons, but the BB/smoothbore combo makes it unappealing, yes, you could possibly post it off & pay someone to modify it - but then a cheap fun gun has suddenly got very expensive...

I have the D.W. 2.5" model in 6mm bb . I find it to be powerful ( 425 fps /.20 grain bb) and accurate for the type of pistol, that is... I can consistently hit a coke can at 10 yards/ on paper targets it will group 6 shots into 1.5 inches at 6 yards . I am using .30 grain Madbull precision 6mm bb . I get around 10 reloads ( 60 shots) from one co2 bulb. All this for £99. It`s a lot of fun.

    Pete.

The Orion was the best air pistol I have ever owned.
Even better if you had a manservant to pump up the cartridges.

He had to go as well. Neighbours made comments.
