cleaning my colt 1911

Hi guys i know i have asked a couple of questions about my colt 1911 as im new to the sport, cleaning is my next question. I have the shiny colt 1911 what is the best way of keeping my pistol lovely and clean.

I use a silicon rag for the external finish. Works fine on my Colt Commander.
