    Webley Tempest

I have a webley tempest, its abit rough, was bought 2nd hand for £40 a couple years ago.I have used it a few times over a couple years, one day i shot about 80 pellets through it and i noticed it started to creek when you cocked it,like screeching metal, but it fired fine and power was fine.I have also noticed the barrel is wobbly once its cocked,is that normal?

I would like to strip it all down and give it a good clean and oiling and replace any parts.Has anyone done this before and is it easy to do? i dont want to end up with a box full of bits

i will get some pictures up to show condition and see if anyone has any advice what i can do to clean it up ect

It sounds as though it could do with a re lube, especially the cocking linkage.
They are easy to strip but I have about 50 years experience, you on the other hand may find it daunting.
There should be a strip down guide on here somewhere, try a search.
    Pete.
    P.S.
The barrel is slightly wobbly as normal.

Are the grips on a Tempest suitable for a lefthander?

my dad is left handed and has shot this loads of times,I took this to shooting range near where i live a couple years ago and we had loads rifles,my xocet, brocock enigma,my dads mate had his air arms s200 and another precharged rifle and i think the most fun we had was shooting the tempest. The precharged rifles are too easy to shoot i think, more of a challange using the tempest

after holding it with my left hand there i can see it being uncomfortable shooting it holding in left hand,it can be done but feels abit awkward because there is a lip that runs across the top of the grip so your thumb can rest and flick the safety.

    Re: Tempest and left-handers

Really designed for right-handers, but I find still very usable for a lefty, the ledge on the grip pushes your trigger finger out and makes you use the tip of your finger.
A gentleman on this site made me a set of walnut ambi grips for mine not only looks good, but improves usage for a lefty like myself.

Get yourself a trigger shoe on that trigger - it improves the feel quite a bit.

This link should be of help: http://mediacdn.shopatron.com/media/.../131036442.pdf
A dab of grease on the link fulcrum should sort it out. The Tempest is very easy to dismantle if you have the right drifts.

for lefties & Tempests.... the best way is remove the safety lever and cross shaft (they can always be re-fitted later) and have the custom grips made to cover the vacant hole.
Although the barrel release remains on the wrong side, but this is relatively minor.
