Shooting Sound Tests - Club Local Council

hi Im helping out setting a new airgun club in Tamworth on behalf of Solware already have a venue secured with secure clubhouse and toilet facilities etc The club has secure security regular monitoring and is actually CPSA approved. The club is a shotgun ground and basically the local council environmental are being a right pain. Obviously a shotgun is far louder than any airgun!! But still we have to have something in black & white independent professional report to advise local council on noise polution regarding an airgun. Everyone in reality knows a shotgun is louder than an airgun but we have to have some tests confirming this. We cannot just state it using a sound meter from maplins or . Does any of the airgun clubs have anything in black/white documentation confirming tests conducted from a credible source that is qualified. Really appreciate any help as sound testing involved previously for shotgun cost in excess of £1500 that sum of money we cannot pay for something that we already know. Unfortunately when dealing with powers of be we need something credible an invitation was offered but refused. Can any of clubs help with our situation. Many Thanks

Can't believe nobody has answered you yet either........What the hell were they doing all night??

Why don't you invite the council down to the club to hear for themselves if they won't accept a reading from you, i think you will find they are just ignorant about air rifles!

Thanks guys not sure why it took so long some of posts get priorities regarding silly stuff in the news. Like a jelly bean shaped like Jesus or something will attract more attention! This was a serious question regarding shooting which the forum is about (Airgunbbs) yet been overlooked! Its one of those as this club when up and running will serve a purpose to hundreds of airgunners from midlands inc some on bbs forum! Its already active in shotgunning CPSA approved. Well had meeting at club tonight with owner and local RFD and going to invite council down with shotgun going off and then several types of airgun inc spring gun/co2 gun/pre charge all without silencers. Easy situation in reality as with airguns no headphones are required!! But council being as they can be want tests incase of local complaints. Thanks for help. Welcome down anytime

    Hi,
I would have thought that sound testing equipment is a rather specialist area, hence the lack of response on this forum.
One thing you could try is speaking to a local recording studio. They may have the equipment you need on a hire basis. Also they may act as a third party and provide a documented report which the council numptys will love.

Ruby, would suggest you re-post your question in the 'General Airgun' section, as not everyone ventures down here to HFT & FT Banter.

Im helping out setting a new airgun club in Tamworth on behalf of Solware
If you are assisting a commercial enterprise, Solware, in setting up an airgun club then they should be able to get assistance fom their trade association. Are Solware Trade Members of BASC? If they are then BASC should be their first port of call. If they haven't bothered to become a member of an appropriate body then there on their own.
