Do I detect a little dispute brewing up here?
The bullet scoring rules are quite clear - tiz true - but common sense will always rule supreme in the MPL.
Before I get to see the card or cards in dispute I would like to offer this small crumb of previous experience to the debate and hope it will be accepted with the same good grace as it is offered .
If the demarcation line between any two scoring areas is touched or cut by the bullet then it scores up - common sense can also be employed here to ensure the area of dispute is indeed the round cut shape of the bullet hole and not any small spikes of a tear that can easily happen with a much lower speed pellet ( as opposed to an actual "bullet").
If the spike of a tear is the cause of the dispute and it only just touches the line then it should not score up.
If the round cut shape of the pellet hole touches the line then it will score up ( accepting that pellet holes are always a little ragged under close inspection).
If it is a tear spike then it should not score up - but the MPL is a friendly ( although often hotly disputed) competition and it may be best in a case like this to put it back to the actual shooter to consider.
The shooter concerned is often the least concerned and therefore can be the best judge. Only blatant optomistic scoring should need a third party to offer a judgement .
