Airsoft Match Pistols - Is there a point?

Today I have just come across the 2nd Match Pistol I have seen firing 6mm plastic airsoft BB rounds.

    http://airgunenthusiast.weebly.com/w...ch-pistol.html

The gun above seems to retail for the equivilent of £27 in China being of primarily plastic contruction.

I seem to recall that Umarex under the Hammerli banner (I think) also made something similar albeit a lot more expensive.

Is there a market for these?
What distance are they shot over and just how much precision can be achieved with a 6mm platic BB?

Do you think it qualifies as a Replica Imitation Firearm ?

I doubt any 6mm airsoft would be able ti be described as a match pistol, unless the target is a dinner plate.

I used to shoot my 6mm sniper rifle in a bench rest, but have down stopped as it's accuracy brought nothing but frustration.

    Kind regards,

    Phil

Actually having done a little more digging, it seems as though its the same gun marketed as the Hammerli APS-3 or even the Maruzen APS-3 (both costing considerably more than £27....)
    see here - http://www.airsoft-barracks.com/foru...ssembly-guide/
So I guess it's just a gimmick rather anything serious......

If people have them and enjoy shooting them, then good luck to them. I look at the Umarex Browning High Power and get peeved because I'd like one with the same build as my CP88, but Umarex will have done market research that has led to that model being built in plastic to fire BBs

I have the Hammerli and it is a very good indoor target pistol. 6 yards or 10 m if you have it.
It is accurate but does make large non target pellet holes.

    Fine outside if no wind.

It is well made and very easy to operate.
Single shot or 5 in a mag.
Brilliant when it is too wet or cold to venture out.

Good introduction to target shooting for kids.
Puts out just over a joule.

It can be used in the Care Home when they take us away.
