I have used the izzy and really enjoyed using it, getting some good scores. y question, which may seem a little vain is would useing a IZH-46M in open competition be totally weird? Are the still competitive?

If you can shoot good scores with it, then that alone makes it competitive.
A chap at our club seems to shhot very well with his too.
Whether or not you can still do it under the pressure of competition is not a function of the gun - so go for it...

The IZH-46M outshoots all my other air and CO2 pistols for accuracy even at long range. They will have to prize it out of my hands in the nursing home.

In the end all that matters is if it works for you, and if you can get a good score and compete with the guys who have spent hundereds on their guns so much the better. I think we spend too much time fretting about the hardware. I don`t know why but I can still shoot a better card with my [ old model ]recoiling LGVfrom the 1960s than I can with my recoiless FWB300, and that goes against the usual logic.

Does this compare with the FWB 100? I always liked that gun 20 years back.
