Hatsan Escort Magnum PS Mossy Oak

Hi I bought the above today.

I was a bit worried on its reputation on the previous model as to it jamming on light loads & short cartridges.

From what I'd read about the latest 2012 edition and what it says on the blurb in the shop, it's supposed to cycle 2.5 to 3 inch cartridges and 24g to 56g loads.

Anyway , I tried a box of 24g fibre fiochi trap ones (67mm) on a sporting layout at my local club and didn't experience a single jam.

I did have some 28g lyvale express hv's 70mm in case I needed to bed the action but they weren't needed.

I used them up anyway and was pleasantly surprised how little kick there was.

On the whole, this package seems good value for £465, you get 5 extended chokes, shims, stock spacers, fibre optic sights and a 3 year warranty.

    Regards Steve

Think mine could be one of the first generation ones, had it about 6 years .....had a fare few issues regarding jamming. What is the differences on the 2nd gen ones please ? do they sort out the cycleing issues of the earlier model ?

    i have a 12g and a 20g they work fine
the only time my 20g played up was when
i used a box of hushpower 24g it would not load at all
    but was only on clays
i did buy a escort 20g off pigeon watch
it was a old model with no spacers in the stock it jammed every 4 or 5 shots
so i did a px for a new one

Same as mine,it is the older one & have had no problems . Had read somewhere about using a shorter spring I think & it seemed to solve the problem with jamming . I think they took a couple of loops off of the springs , but someone else said get a shorter spring

I had an Escort once - for the money its unbeatable. The one I had was an early version with a very short stock so I sold it (replaced it with a Baikal MP153 which is a superb gun). Since then I think the Escorts have improved immeasurably - if I was starting out and looking for a wildfowling/pigeon/clay busting gun an Escort would definitely be my first port of call. I think you can get decent second hand models for £200 or thereabouts.
