    Bsa r10 mk2 vc

Hi folks just bought the latest R10 MK2 VC .22 this is the one with the unshrouded barrel, I compared this gun with the standard version and found it is approx 2.5 inches longer than the standard shrouded version but this included the BSA VC silencer. If you fit a silencer to the standard R10 then the R10 VC is considerably shorter. I also swapped the VC silencer with a weirhauch silencer in the shop to compare the noise levels and found the VC was slightly quieter than the weirhauch! After shooting the gun using RWS superdomes I found it to be very very accurate at least as good as my Daystate huntsman If not better! After reading various posts on the R10 I cleaned the barrel before I fired it and found a lot of dark deposits in the barrel I am guessing this is some kind of protective coating? Anyway I have found no faults with the gun and the power level is 11.57 ftlbs. The only thing which I found was the magazine did not lock at first after inserting each pellet but after the first load has worked perfectly, also the instructions say hold the bolt back while you insert the magazine but there is no need, it just slots in after the gun is cocked. In my opinion this is a great rifle with top class accuracy and an improvement over the standard R10 MK2. PS the gun was built August 2012 according to the BSA quality ticket.

Really like the look of the VC and by all accounts the silencer is excellent. I've added this one onto my long listed of wanted air rifles

    R10 vc .22

have one of these, after swapping my Hw100T with a guy who had bought it new and didn't get on with it...
This gun is brand new... swapped my 30mm night-eye heavy scope and eventually fitted a new 4-12-50 Hawke Sport HD AO IR.
This set up is quite compact and a fair bit lighter than the HW.
Not had it out in the field yet but had a little plink with it in the garden (30yds) while I set up the new scope.
    couple of things.
    1) this is not a quiet gun by any means, the Hw100 was a good bit quieter, I seems to be the hammer making the racket but a trip out will tell if the prey can hear
    2) the new red mag doesn't index very well, often have to jam the probe through. sometimes 2 attempts, i'm hoping this is a new thing and will smooth out with time and use.
    3) scope is excellent, thoroughly recommend and tough to beat for the money. £72 posted
Bare in mind this is after only 5 or 6 mags lay on my living room floor leaning on a cushion shooting up the garden on a cold breezy day.
    4) tried a couple of types of pellet
    Crossman ultra mags...mehhh nothing special.
falcon accuracy plus...WOW!!!... 10 pellets in a 5p sized hole...
    my gast was flabbered...

    in summary,
I love the R10 , I cant wait to get it out in the field, hopefully a day/night session this weekend, weather permitting, when I can put it through its paces...it'll certainly be easier to lug round than the Hw100.

Is your rifle a standard R10 mk2 ? My R10 VC doesnt have any hammer noise to speak of just goes pfft its quieter than my daystate huntsman which has a distinct ting sound from the hammer.

I have the shrouded version in .177 with a Sak mod on at the moment , the Sak buts up nicely to the shroud and isn't as long as some others but not as quiet as I would have liked .
