Mounting a scope on a shotgun

Hope this isn't a stupid question but I've seen on a number of US websites paople using red dot scopes on shotguns. Is there a rail to mount a scope on that converts from a shot gun type rail to a dovetail?

Not Sure about that but i know someone who has a .22 rifle/shotgun combo with a scope on he says your supposed to use the scope for the rifle and look under it for the shotgun. He uses the scope for both and says its easy shooting the shotgun using the scope on low mag.

This is the answer I got from Brownells: "THIS ITEMS CAN ONLY BE SHIPPED UNDER A COMMERCE EXPORT LICENSE."

    Mike,

I could order the mount for you from Brownells as I have a trade account, but there would be a bit of extra postage to get it to you in Sweden.

Let me know if you can't get it sorted and don't mind waiting.

    Cheers

I guess I will have to pay 2 international shipping costs then.....

I can order it myself, but the permit and delivery time will add up to a month or so. The silly thing is that Brownells got an export permit for all the stuff I ordered, but the mount required another type of permit!

I'm still searching for the mount locally, I've had the Aimpoint for a few weeks now -just waiting for the mount......

I have put a red dot on my Winchester 1300 (holds 12 + 1) section 1 pump action.

I drilled and tapped the top of the receiver to take a Weaver base.

    Very easy to do.

I've got an Aimpoint red dot on my Winchester .410 (essentially a lever action "cowboy" rifle bored out to .410 shotgun)

The receiver being a standard 94 part is pre drilled and tapped anyway so I simply bought $10 worth of Winchester bases from www.brownells.com and the aimpoint fits straight on.

Doesnt really add anything with normal shot loads but would be good with slugs Put together for no other reason than I had the sight sitting unused in a box........gets lots of attention on the skeet range though
