I restored one for a freind & the barrel fell out while working on it! Think they're silver soldered in. You'd be much better off shortening it from the breech end if you can remove the barrel. I had an old but straight airsporter spring & honed out the piston as it wasn't parralell inside & causing the spring to bind halfway through cocking & it shot a LOT better than before at about 8.5 ft/lbs. Still a swamp donkey though. The relum break barrel earlier guns were much better & more accurate.
Hi, I know this is an old thread but intresting !
You need to start with the medium stroke length Tornado , Or not bother ,
As was said, The cocking mechanism provides very little in the way of mechanical advantage ?
Having said that, The medium length cylinder & a 26mm piston has Enough swept volume for an easy 11 Fpe.
To reiterate ! The Medium length cylinder is 20mm longer than the standard , & The Export is 20mm longer than that , You be the judge ?
When I made the " Opposing Piston " Thingy, I used Relum parts,
Here is a piston I machined shorter , To reduce the stroke length I machined & Added a substantial piston weight, Drilled & Tapped to accept the machined PTFE Piston heads , I made & Still have a couple but they only fit the modified pistons.
Here is one, Tacked up Etc,

I am not saying the Tornado or its copies are great guns !
They were in an era of average " Cheap" guns ,
The break barrels perform much better than the Tap loaders, & the super export is a good performer , Again in my opinion , Thats capable of more than our limit in break barrel form
Believe it or not ? As Ripley said . Ged.
