Sorry to hear this. I can imagine how you feel as I've just had to send back my HW45 ( broken spring) only bought in April. Should get it back today but you shouldn't have hassle with new guns. I don't think you're missing anything. Sounds like a seal fault to me. I bought my Compact second hand and touch wood its been great. If all you're doing is opening, loading, closing and firing thats all there is to it. I feel for you, but it'll have to go back. I personally would try a couple of drops of pellgunoil or magic9 oil in the air intake hole first. Pump the barrel arm to disperse and try some shots. It could possibly be that the seals are dry.
