I stopped 'collecting' air guns a few years ago. Now I only accumulate!

    Interesting distinction, Eric!

Actually, I do think that once you get past a certain number of collectables you are in danger of moving into a sort of 'accumulation zone'. I've seen a few collectors who have so many guns they appear to have lost 'feeling' for them and are thinking more about acquisition for its own sake than the sort of fascination for every model and example that you have when you start collecting. Whereas others who have enormous wealth, in collecting terms, still seem to retain affection for every item.

I think it comes down to personality - are you the kind of person who eats just to fill your belly or do you savour each mouthful - its taste, its texture, how it compares to the previous dish etc...?

    Thanks Danny!!
What I meant to say was "According to my wife, I stopped collecting air guns some years ago. Now I only accumulate rubbish"
...and, despite the size of my stomach, I am very careful about what goes into it. I can't stand garlic or curry and don't eat fried food!

Just came across this old thread I started and thought I'd update.

Collection downsized from 29 to 11 but recently an "up-surge" occurred by me acquiring a lefty 77 and a Mk. 5 Meteor in .177 which is a joy to shoot (thanx "HarryMac" )
So its Unlucky 13 to date !

Got down from 30-odd to 7 but just bought another one....

I'm only supposed to have three, that being the number I have time to shoot.

I wouldn't touch a Wobbly Webley with a barge pole.

    Youve got me there.

Is it because of the photo background - 'underpant yellow'?

This thread has me a little worried. I certainly don't think of myself as a collector, but currently have 5 rifles and 2 pistols, but only 2 of these are no longer made. I would like to think you must have more than 10 before you can be called a collector as that gives me a little room for expansion.
