Hi there I'm new to this site and this is my first post,
Firstly I'll explain why I'm here, recently my grandfather passed away and while looking through his home, my dad found the first air rifle that he had as a boy, my dad bought the gun back home and passed the gun to me, I researched the name " webley service air rifle mark II " so I've been researching all night and come to the conclusion that the gun is fairly sought after and has some involvement with the war effort as a training aid.
I believe it to be a very early series one, with a serial number of 93 on both the barrel ( .22 ) and gun ( behind the trigger guard )
I will post pictures later tomorrow.
I'm after a few spare parts, firstly the rear flip up sight is missing and the breech mechanism is missing the bolt ( the part that secures the barrel to the seal )
Thanks for your time in reading this and any help.
Hi and Welcome.
it will be interesting to see the photos, if it is No92 it is a very early Service if you can take some photos of the Se/No on the barrel and the gun itself that would be helpfull.
Hi, John Knibbs sells the "L" shaped peep sight for this gun, he also stocks bolts, ATB with your restoration, Cheers, Ray.
here are the pictures, i hope they're ok.

Hello and welcome to the best part of the BBS, here is a link to the site mentioned above;

(put "webley service" into the search box at the top of the page).
There are lots of experts on this gun on here, who I am sure will be interested to a possibly "one owner from new" gun, and it would be nice to get this heirloom back to good working order. I bet it could tell a few stories!
Best regards,
Ed
Luckily I have found the bolt, it's just the sight I'm missing now.
Hi this is a very early 1st series Webley Service and only about 1000 of these made, yours would be made about 1933. it is what they call the spring clip model. that is to say it has a spring to hold the barrel into the barrel housing, these often got broken and that is why Webley changed to the push button type of housing which was a much better arangement,
l hope this helps, you can get spares from John Knibbs but they are not cheap. but this is well worth doing to get a rare rifle up and running again.![]()

Thanks for all the help guys, I had a few shots with the gun a day or so ago, couldn't believe it still worked effectively, the flip up sights on the barrel are still spot on, and at a fair distance managed to puncture a drinks can on both sides.
hi john can we see some full length photos please and some of the stock
thankyou
