Phoned up a local gun shop that I have used for years off and on they have always Been a bit pricey but convenient, to see if the had any 2nd hand hw100's, they told me they had a couple.
So I popped in to have a look and see what sort of a deal they would sort out.
They showed me a 2nd hand hw100 t fsb with a cheap Hawke scope then told me they wanted £750 for it. PMSL.. I asked why so much they then told me it was a special import ........er no its not it had Hull Cartridge on the side of it !!!!!! they told me they wouldn't budge on price and could sell these at that price all day long......
As I was wanting to trade a gun in as well I thought I'd ask what they would give me for my as new only fired 50 shots bsa scorpion SE 177 against the over priced HW........
£300...was the answer ....insult... I told them what I thought of that And left and I won't be back....one lost sale and one lost customer
The manager wouldn't even come out to see me instead he sent a part time Saturday boy back and forth relaying the offers and prices
Shocking customer service...

hw100 allways fetch good money s/hand ,but £750 is a big mark up for a shop and a shop price . at my local shop hw100 are £730 NEW some private seller wont £650 s/hand for them. a used hw100 will sell private all day for £500 but theres a big diffrence between £500 and £650 .nowbody likes to lose money on anything but people ho are selling rifles at £80 less than new wont a reality check or thay have not done there homework and paid well over the odds for the new rifle in the first place

I know of 2 gunshops along the southcoast which have terrible prices on second hand guns..some of which are dearer than a new model only 30 miles up the road.![]()

When I was in the market for a chrony, I rang a yorkshire based shop asking if they had any in stock. The reply was, " we could order you one in, but the problem with chronys that are available to the public is that they are not accurate, but we have one in the shop that you can use for a small fee"
Needless to say I bought an f1 from merlin archery.

it aint just local gunshops. look at the prices some dealers want on gunstar![]()
There does seem to be a terrible arrogance with some gun shop owners and their staff. There are some strange people in our sport....ive met a few at gamefairs....come once a year in their plusfour finery with the attitudes of pompous chumps. Fortunately most of us are ok.
not a dig at anyone just a question
how is it that when someone gets good service from a shop they name them but when its bad they get all cryptic
I know that critisim can get out of hand but if someone wants to relay a genuine coplaint about a dealer they should say who it is
For instance I live in Chichester and have recently been into Chichester Armoury for the first time (yet to try Protek) I have to say it is a lovely shop but I did feel my appearance definately got me judged on entry, I tried to make conversation about the small selection of airgun stuff (which is pricy) and got little in return, however when I changed the conversation to clay shooting the guy lit up - not so much a critisism
as an observation and to show I like to talk guns, I bought nothing as he didnt have anything I wanted
On the flip side I travel to Ripley in Derbyshire every week for work and decided to have a look at Drapers, what looked like a proper airgun shop, I wanted some pellets (like to but over the counter if I can my theory is the less they have to travel the less they get damaged) I walked into the empty shop barring the salesman, he was unpacking some boxes, the conversation went like this:
me - "hello"
him - just looked up then carried on unpacking
me - I had a good look round then asked "do you have some JSB Jumbos"
him - "yes" he walked over and got a tin and walked to the till "thats £12"
me - "do you by any chance do sizers"
him - "no, waste of time with these pellets"
me - do you have any Jumbo RS pellets"
him - "no"
me - paid and said "thanks, bye now"
him - nothing, just back to his unpacking
now I know I may be being touchy but I tried real hard to engage, and i think someone new who wants to engage is a repeat customer - not sure I will go back?
as a "country of shopkeepers" we do customer service real bad here![]()
