Recording device for nite site ns200

    Hi chaps,
I recently ordered a jxd990 off to record from my nite site.
Well...it arrived today :-/ after taking the face plate off to remove one of the buttons that had fallen inside I charged it up, connected it to the nite site...
Blue screen, no video, no sound...
I went online and trawled through endless pages on AV forums to establish that you basically need a PHD in rocket science to sort it out.
Thankfully I only paid about 50 quid for it and its either going back or it will become a belated Xmas present for someone :-)

Does anyone have any experience with a good quality recording device for the nite site?
    Only 2 requirements:
    1. It works straight out the box, none of this updating firmware and flashing the hard drive business.
    2. It won't break the bank, I'd like to come in under £250 if I can but to be honest if its gonna last and it bloody works I don't mind.

Lesson of the day: buy cheap, buy twice :-(

Hooray! I sorted the problem (ish).
It turns out that the cable connected to the dvr needs to be pulled out about 2-3 mm, pushed all the way in you get blue screen, still got no sound tho??
I've ordered a new cable which is supposed to resolve the issue so we shall see...
Better than sending it back or giving it away I suppose :-/
