Spring number of coils question for HW's.

Can anyone let me know the number of coils that are optimal on the relevant Titan spring to stay below 12ftlbs for 1.An HW77 .22 2.An HW80 .22 3.An HW80.177 and 4.An HW35 .177 in the case of the 35 though I don't expect the power limit to be an issue. Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Sorry, I cannot help with precise data, and I would be reluctant to give a figure as it could so easily be wrong.
But in my experience, most aftermarket springs, and many sold as original equipment, have the potential to take a rifle ott. This is why I always advise people to fit the spring (if they can) and chrono the rifle; then adjust coil number / compress coils as needed to bring the power down to the required level. Take it slowly but if you take off too much you can usually fine tune with a preload washer.

But if it helps: i seem to remember cutting about 3 coils off a Titan XS for an HW77 to bring it down to about 11.5. This took the spring to about 1cm beyond the end of the action so screwing the back block on was no problem. Top hat was fitted.
    Cheers, Phil
