Shot some targets today. As is usual my BTAS HW100 .177 grouped extremely well but my VMach 80 .177 did not. The VMach does pi55 me off a bit, considering the cost, when shooting paper 'cos it doesn't group well but when it shoots even the smallest spinner it rarely misses. How does that work?
simple you are concentrating on a much larger target and being distracted by the larger target and not concentrating on the smaller spinner

Also confidence
You are clearly not confident shooting that rifle, so it will be exaggerated when shooting paper targets.
Stop shooting spinners and keep shooting paper until you gain the confidence in the set-up.
when you say vmach , is that a stage one or full tune.
i could group with my laser glide at 50 yards in 22 cal , but i had to adapt to its movement as such to get that.
double check its favourite pellet and clean barrel etc , in ,177 it should be very capable .
i shot a standard hw97 ( brand new type ) on sunday in 177 and it grouped hole on hole at 50 yards
well capable
Sounds about right to me![]()
Try leaving the easier pcp indoors and just shoot the excellent springer you
have for a month you will find the groups close up and you technique will
Improve as well.
It took me a year to master the pro sport then i got the pcp so of cause I
shot it most days and couldnt and still cant shoot the springer like i could
when it was my only gun and you know what they say "beware the man with one gun"

Never pull the trigger unless you know
you are going to hit what you are aiming at.
When you try to group on a target you are trying to replicate exactly the same sight picture each time, and place each pellet at the same point on the target. Shooting a spinner just needs your pellet to hit the spinner, no matter how small it is, variation in the POI doesn't matter.
In my opinion groups don't really matter, I only use them to find a mean POI for zeroing, after that, if you're target shooting it's how close to the bull that matters, for anything else a hit is a hit.
Whatever doesn't kill you, is going to leave a scar... A Crip With A Gun!

How do you hold your springer? Are you using the artillery hold?

This is a full vmach from scratch. Steve bought a brand new 80, tuned it, engraved it, put a very nice trigger in it and then slotted it in one of his very nice stocks.
I only ever shoot this thing with my arms rested rested on something cos it's so heavy. I have used all sorts of pellets but guess at the end of the day practice makes perfect. Any suggestions on pellets would be gratefully received. I had a Venom .22 previously that wasn't anywhere near as difficult to shoot. Still if that spinner keeps going why am I so worried - I guess I would just like to see much tighter groups.
