The A-team have been putting in hours of practise for this confrontation so I think we will stroll it
If not, then the black pudding and nosh will ease the pain of defeat

John
hold me back !!
Hi John, really looking forward to a fun but competetive night.
I am trying to get across for 6.00pm to clean up the target face plates and get set up ready for practice from around 7.00pm.
I will bring the Electronic Scoreboard and get that set up.
I may need to change the scoring system slightly to ease the flow and speed of the main comp if we are to shoot two rounds on the night.I will discuss this with Steve from Redhill Revolvers first and seek mutual agreement if needed. Was thinking of simplifying the scoring,So 5 for a bull (clean or clipped), then 4, 3 ,2 & 0 for each of the respective scoring rings - And only implementing the 5.1 scoring method in a shoot off only if we have a tie break at the end of the main comp.
What do you think?
Life without happiness is no life at all.
One can only imagine the consequences of a struggle between two such titanic forces.
Good luck everyone!
Ron
WELL DONE MELBOURNE IN THE FIRST LEG
On behalf of the Redhill Revolvers team I would like to thank all the Melbourne Marksmen for a great evening. The company welcome and grub was second to none. We are looking forward to the 2nd leg in a few weeks.
We learned how the odd dropped shot can lead to what looks like a big defeat in a team event so its back to the practice bell for us.
Well done again all and thanks for a cracking night in true bell target tradition, we left like a Christmas turkey, WELL STUFFED maulled by the Melbourne Marksman as Mr Harris suggested on the way home!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve
Yes it was a splendid night Steve and an amazing turn out.
Many of those present had never shot in a shoulder to shoulder competition so it was a new experience for them and I am sure we will now host and attend many more.
It was good to see such a variation in rifles used from a BSA improved model D, through to postwar springers such as Walthers and Weihrauch 55's and match rifles by FWB, Original and Anschutz.
Scores were higher than we expected despite a few match nerves
Glad you liked the food laid on by the RBL staff and Chris's black pudding was a bit special
Many thanks to to you and your members for fielding a strong and enthusiastic team and we are now looking forward to the return leg.
Thanks also to Chris and Mac and those who helped on the night to make this happen. Looks like Scott (Prewar) has set the bar for the return leg.

hold me back !!
A splendid evening of friendly competition with an excellent turn out on both sides.
Well done to all those who made it happen, and to Mark (Markmac) for running the scoring so efficiently. Realtime on screen scoring no less!
Looking forward to visiting Redhill for the return leg.
Well done to all sounds like a great night, sorry i could not be there for domestic reasons, but delighted you all had such a great time, ...mike...
Thanks Nick for being my shot spotter armed with your trusty binoculars - Really helped me keep track of the live and dynamic scoring system we had in place - Couldn't have done it without you mate.
Again just to reiterate what Steve,John & Nick have already said, Thanks to everyone for making the night such a great event.Fun and friendly atmosphere but with that competitive bite to it, with the odd bit of banter,of course. Can't wait for the return match, provisionally pencilled in for early March (to be confirmed).
The shooting was quite close in the first round with only 3 points seperating the top 8 results from each team. The second leg just saw Melbourne edge it as we picked up a point or two in each head to head and the Home advantage was definately working for us as despite a valiant effort from Redhill, the match nerves seemed to be creeping in a little more as every shot counted.
A few notable comments worth raising; Firstly well done to Scott Marshall who had the highest aggregate score over the two rounds with a 26 followed by a 27 - Well done Scott.Scott was also tied on the highest round score of 27 with Bell Target Newbie from Redhill, Mervyn Beattie and yet another Redhill sharpshooter Andy Brown with his superb Anschutz SSP- However Scott claimed Top Shot of the night with a tense sudden death shootoff, scoring a 5 with his first shot and both Mervyn & Andy scoring a solid 4 each.
Finally, Well Done MELBOURNE MARKSMEN
