The traditional gunsmith's method is to inlet a new piece of wood, and match this to the countours of the stock. If your woodworking skils are good enough you could do this, or make a raiser to bolt on. A simpler method that works (but doesn't look so nice) is to build up the comb with layers of target paper and card. There are also various non-permanent pads that are tied or slide onto the butt.

I've been thinking of making a fibreglass saddle finished with carbon fibre cloth, I'll wrap the stock in cling film and then build up the shape over it, then carbon fibre it and to adhere to the stock I intend to use a couple of numberplate sticky pads.

    Jim,
You have a pm regarding a cheekpiece.
People who have been there focus on the fundamentals. People who sit at keyboards all day focus on the trivial and inane.
