    Theoben MFR or Mk II

In terms of a hunting weapon which is considered the better?

    balance - weight - accuracy - etc

How quiet is the MFR moderator?

    Oh Yes in 12ft/lb

Get an MFR with a standard threaded barrel.. and no shroud.
Then you have a choice of silencer on a better balanced rifle..

No its not a Mk11 as you still have the mfr internals and bottle , the stock is also nicer ,but as stormy says it is better ballanced and it will be quieter with a nice HW mod on it. The mk11 will be a bit heavier aswell .

the stock has a longer fore-end.. and the smaller 280cc bottle simply unscrews, so no need to bleed.

Personally I prefer the balance of the MFR (admittedly mine is sitting in a Gary cane stock but even as standard I prefer it.)

As for accuracy there's nowt in it. Both will shoot the do-dahs off a fly at hunting ranges

That said, you may prefer the feel of the MKII, the only way to know is to try them out yourself.

Overall weight, balance and looks of the MFR does it for me.
Although Theoben says you can just unscrew the bottle, Ben Taylor advises bleeding it so I do.
It's not difficult to modify the shroud's internals to make it much quieter. Not as quiet as an HW mod, agreed, but quiet enough for most purposes.

Modern Rapid blocks are all identical except for the bottle valve/fastflow/regulator you fit to them. The 'MFR' to me means the 'easy put on and remove' bottle which has a slightly longer nozzle and needs a different regulator. I also discard the shroud and use a standard barrel but I do particularly like the flared fore-end of the 'MFR' stock as I find it more comfortable to hold.
As for bottle size I use 280cc on everything except my .25 FAC which has a fast flow and uses quite a bit of air so 400cc bottles give me more shots. I find a Rapid with a 280cc bottle handles better but that is just my preference.

so true nick the balance the 280 bottle gives is excellent and at sub 12 still holds plentty shots for more than a days shooting

MFR for me - not as quiet as a MKII but I prefer it in all other aspects.

It is easy enough to make a carbon reflex silencer that IS a lot quieter than a standard HW
