We’ve talked about it long enough now so let’s just go for it.


THE EVENT


The Spring Rifle Gathering is to be held on 15th June 2013



This is just to be a day of chatting about guns, shooting, eating, drinking and getting to meet folks off the various forums.


THE PRICE


£20 including camping over the full weekend (3 nights if required)


This is a prepayment only event --- so if you haven't prepaid, don't show up on the day.




Part of this payment is for me to insure on the field so that folks without their own shooting insurance can attend.



THE VENUE


Higham Fields Farm
Higham Fields Lane,
Higham on the hill,
Nuneaton,
Warwickshire.
CV13 6ET


The farm is 40 minutes away from both the collectors’ events the following day to be held at the Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham and the Melbourne Marksmen Collectors Fayre at Melbourne Derbyshire.



HOW IT WORKS



After a great deal of valuable and helpful assistance from Mr Jim Tyler (BTDT) I shall now be using the following system which greatly simplifies the time taken in administration.


1) Anybody who would like to attend simply sends a cheque for £20 made payable to M Furniss (me) to my work address above.
On the back of the cheque write your username, Forum, nearest postal town and the word "camping" if doing so.


2) I hang on to the cheques until we reach the minimum break even point for portaloos insurance etc before banking them.


3) I will be scanning the cheques before banking them, so in the event of cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances (the weather) I can bank transfer your money back into your account.


4) As cheques come in I will post your username/Forum/Postal town up on here with your cheques status ---received/Banked.




As this idea was conceived by Baxterbasics and TonyL on here then out of respect to the BBS owners (J S Ramsbottom) no trade stands will be invited to attend.

I have local caterers booked for the day to sell Burgers, Hot dogs, Pork and stuffing cobs, Tea and Coffee etc.

I will not be organising a licensed bar on site but as your cars will be accessible inside the site I suggest you bring your own.

For those camping I shall be building a bonfire for the Saturday night.

The extent of targets and ranges will be dependant on interest/Money available --- as I have no idea how many people will attend I have allowed for a certain flexibility.

On arrival I shall be giving out permission letters to shoot and a username badge which will also double as a pass.

I'm sure I speak for many, many grateful boingermen.....A HUGE THANK YOU.

Not only are you a highly valued member of the BBS, technical expert and all round general nice, pragmatic guy, but to undertake this commitment is beyond what would be expected.
Not only are you willing to host this event at your own place, but to undertake the organising etc is utterly fantastic.

Just thinking on the dark, negative side for just a second, as I'm sure the numbers will more than suffice, if, and I think it's a BIG if, the numbers fall a bit shy, before canning the event, you could simply just ask those that have already committed if they still wanted to go ahead if the cost had to be a little higher to cover costs. I'm sure it'd be a resounding "YES".

Come on chaps, get those cheques rolling in.......

This Thread is just the start of the process, if we fail to get enough interest then the whole idea gets scrapped.

Not only are you willing to host this event at your own place, but to undertake the organising etc is utterly fantastic.

You may have noticed that I didn't post on the thread in which you and Baxterbasics first started discussing the Boinger Bash --- there was good reason for this.

At first I agreed with Terry and Bozzer's comments that the meeting should be tagged onto an existing event but that seemed to bring its own problems ---so after thinking about it for a long time, I decided to host it.

Folks have let me down when organising events in the past so I thought the best way forward was to organise everything myself as well.

Just thinking on the dark, negative side for just a second, as I'm sure the numbers will more than suffice, if, and I think it's a BIG if, the numbers fall a bit shy, before canning the event, you could simply just ask those that have already committed if they still wanted to go ahead if the cost had to be a little higher to cover costs. I'm sure it'd be a resounding "YES".

If we don't get enough interest to warrant the expenditure I envisage then I'll sort something else out.

The gateway to the field is wide enough to drive a combine through so no problem with a camper.

Youngsters are more than welcome if supervised --- even though I'm insuring the field I really don't want any accidents.
