Opportunity is missed by most people, because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
Hi Matty
With the cheques received today from Snooper601 and Clez we are now past the minimum break even point on insurance and one portaloo (not ideal, I would have liked two) so:-
This event will definitely now be taking place
As more cheques come in the money will be put towards more portaloos as and when the numbers dictate and towards a few other Items we need --- there’s quite a list of bits and bobs.
I have 12 spinner targets made so far and I will now crack on and make as many as possible out of the steel I have in stock (another 88 should do).
I have now got the electrics working for the auto resetting Quigley Bucket and I will be using the Crosman Standard 1.75” Bucket but at 75 yards, though we can always go out to 100 yards if it proves too easy at 75 --- don’t forget you have to hit it three times in a row like Quigley did though.

I have some large steel plates for the zeroing ranges and some 6 meter long benches to set out but no chairs so bring your own.
I only have two knockdown targets so if folks could bring their own it would help no end.
For those folks camping who like a bit of fishing as well as shooting I have a small Carp pond in the next field which you’re welcome to fish, FOC of course --- the biggest in there is only 30lbs though.
I’ll keep updating as and when cheques come in but for now it’s all systems go.
All the best Mick

I had that on VHS great movie.
Do you think the Goatie helps with the shooting?
I don't know but I don't think that dust being blown up the barrel was a very good idea.
The Quigley Bucket shoot seems a lot more popular in the States than over here so I thought I'd build one for us to play with.
The auto reset mechanism I've built for the bucket uses an Escort wiper motor and a few JCB bits, including the reversing beeper.
All the best Mick

Hi Tony
As Mr Doe said in an earlier thread, in general for every ten folks that say they're coming only one normally commits.
I think the original list you put up had 34 names on it so 18 is good going, though strangely most of the folks who have sent me cheques aren't on the original list.
We could still do with a few more folks at the event to make it into a proper crowd and to make it worthwhile for crazy Kev to do the catering.
Don't forget we are still over two months away from the 15th of June so those folks who have sat on the fence watching our progress may now take the plunge and commit now that it's all systems go.
Though we've reached a point where the costs of the major outgoings are covered and I'm happy to say the event's on there is still a bit of a shortfall which I will cover for now just to get this off the ground.
All the best Mick
I'm sure we'll get more people, just mention it in every pm you send!

Mick,
Cheers for that.
Yes, the numbers are disappointing. My optimistic side tells me, however, that, as people come to realise that this thing IS going to happen, and as the weather (hopefully!) improves, the numbers will swell.
50 or 60 anyone?
Being very pessimistic, if, say, the numbers remained as they are, which won't happen, I'm sure that those of us who are committed to this will gladly pay a further amount. It would be grossly unfair if you were to end up out of pocket, having generously offered to host the event and then all of the hard work entailed.
And we want Crazy Kev to have a good day!!
Come on chaps, keep 'em coming in!

Which should be totally voluntary of course but... I had actually misread or misunderstood the initial thread and was under the belief it would be £20 deposit and then £20 more when the go ahead was given which frankly seemed a good deal for a weekends camping, chatting and tea drinking with like minded peeps!
I would not like to see Mick out of pocket with this daft exploit! I also know there are many other members who would like to come, but may be reluctant to turn up somewhere unknown where they know no one. Just like me!! It's a chance for us all to meet new people and, with the possible exception of our welsh members, we don't bite!

Don't worry tinbum
The price is set at just £20 for the whole weekend and I'm not looking for extra off you guys.
I'm happy to take a chance and go ahead with the money we have in the kitty, which will cover all the major expenses at our first break even point.
If a few more join in we hit our next break even point on Insurance and 2 Portaloos --- obviously the outgoings increase as the numbers go up.
At certain numbers we could get to a point where there is enough money to cover the farm outgoings on sorting the field (Diesel, Labour etc) this is the bit I'm happy to stand for now.
If enough folks join in then we get to a point where there is surplus in the kitty --- in this event I simply hand out vouchers for food from Kev.
So in effect if enough folks show up I end up operating a cashback scheme giving part of your £20 back to you.
All the best Mick
PS:- one of the things I've costed for are name badges so we'll all know who we are when we get pissed.
