    +1000 Joule HighEnd PCP

    Hi all,

Here's a picture of a prototype (not mine) of the Drummen Giant. It's producing more then 1000 Joules (740 fpe) with .45 ammo. Drummen is a Dutch maker of High End fire-arms and air-rifles.

Brilliant! & about as much use as a chocolate firegaurd! bet you don't get many shots per charge out of that.

I wouldn't like to have to pump that with a hand pump. I can't see the advantage of going with such a large callibre, the ballistics are going to be poor - about that of .45 Colt 1911. 30 callibre would be more impressive.

That will depend on the ammo I think. Another thing is that in countries as the Netherlands powerfull airrifles are free and firearms are not.

    For hunting though...nice...why not.

Takes a lot of squirrels to make one Elk or a giant porker.....rather use a 30 06 though.

In countries as the Netherlands you need a licence to shoot on animals. Also you need one to own 30 06 fire arms. 1000 Joule airifles are free in many counties.

    amazing...

well done mate - keep digging these little treasures up! bonkers but brilliant!
Interesting to see that there has been a lot of design development of high power air rifles recently across the globe.
IIRC, aren't the american military looking into large calibre air rifles for long range sniping? (i'll have to google it?)
Love the dutch rules on air power BTW - uber jealous...

p.s. 45acp (powder burners) drops like a stone after about 115yds (IIRC), so i wonder what the trajectory will be like for this (what grain pellet?)...so something closer to 9mm (.30cal) would be more appropriate for longer range applications at that power (750fpe)...hey, but worth experimenting, can i get a job there

    Hi all,

The creator of the Drummen Giant told me that probably prototypes will be tested next week.
