Thanks for posting the additional information on the Mk2 Service. The Ser No (12726) would make this a 4th series example dating from around 1937. I will keep an eye on the sale which I believe is next Tuesday (19th March).

    Hi Brian

Just goes to show that I know very little , to me, there are only 3 series, upto 1000, 1000-2000 then 2000 on, with the .25 coming into play at around 7000.

The third series had so little variations, I find it hard to warrant a 4th or 5th series.

    Never did read much, me

Certainly some interesting lots here aside from the fore-mentioned air rifles - worryingly the wife took a liking to the cased Beretta shotgun........

I think the pile of old harness is more up her street though

Like the look of the boxed Webley, I'm sure that's on a few peoples wish-list.

Just been watching the Kidson-Trigg Auction with particular interest in the cased Mk2 Service.

    Some results ( hammer prices):

    Cased Webley Mk2 Service ( 3 matched barrels) £1,200

Webley Mk 1 Air Rifle £600

BSA Improved Mod B (assumed) £200

BSA Light Pattern Air Rifle (post WW1) £95

So, really quite cheap especially the Mk2 Service even though the case was not original.

    Regards

Allowing for the 17.5% + VAT buyers premium, the Cased 3 barreled Mk.II Service final price was £1452, and the Mk.I Rifle final price was £726 if purchased by sale room bidders, or plus another 3% if purchased online.

Just goes to show, that even when posted on here, some things get under the radar and go cheap...

the three barrel mk2 and the mk1 were up again today 20/03/2013.

don't think they sold the other day

any price less than the reserve is upto the seller, if they are happy with the price.

    But did they sell today?

    Hi
I called the auction house, the item did not sell, on 20/3/13 the owner/seller came to pick the rifle up, he did not accept the £1200 bid, he is looking for £1500 at least.

The lower end of the estimate for the Mk2 Service was £1,500 so that would normally be the reserve. However, listening to the auction, it appeared the auctioneer must have been given permission to use his discretion and accept the £1,200 bid.
