    whats the brightest torch

whats the brightest torch you can get , something about the size of a mini-mag or half the size of a D-cell , would be ok , as it needs to be fitted to scope or barrel of rifle.
    cheers
    Darren .

I have one of the BSA ones which come with it's own mount. Very bright and compact. They show them on BARs web site.

You can get a surefire G2 nitrolon from Heinnies for about £30. It has the same bulb unit as the more expensive torches but it is plastic rather than aluminium. It is still very strong though.

It comes with a 60 Lumen bulb, which is 4x brighter than a 4Dcell maglite, and is smaller than an AA maglite. Batteries life is only 1 hour though, although it isn't often I find I use a torch constantly for an hour anyway.

Its more than adequate for lamping rabbits and a 120 lumens bulb unit is available as an optional extra, although it cuts battery life to 20 mins.

There was a thread recently where someone said they had found a US source that came to £18 posted incl. taxes etc, but I haven't used the company concerned.

a princeton tec surge is over close to 100 lumens and last for a good few hours, shockproof + waterproof (divers torch)

    underreview of surge
and a really impressive review here
wow thats bright for a little torch

i bought one to modify to attach to my scope and i had to buy another to use as a torch , it's brightness is really impressive, and i have owned surefire torches as well, there is another very bright hand torch called a "tiger torch" is rechargable and in the usa has a cs gas sprayer built in (not in the uk version) is rated at 120 lumens they are very bright and strong..
