    Anyone owned a Diana LP8 magnum ?

    Hi,

Interested to hear comments from anyone who has owned a Diana LP8 magnum, regarding good / poor features and performance.

    Many thanks in advance.

one thing to remember this is a big pistol.not much use for 10m match,i know i tried it.plenty of power, mine did about 5.5ft/lbs.with a good pistol scope on top and rested i could hit a 5pence sized target every time at 30yards.no problems with mine only replaced it with a brocock grand prix which was just that little bit more accurate

I owned 1 yrs ago and now re-own 2, a silver and a black 1. I also own its predecessor, the LP5 magnum.
    I prefer the LP5. Why?:
    - better trigger. Both LP8's I have now have trigger creep
    - grip is far too thin
    - annoying need for a cocking aid
    - cocking noises which my LP5 does not have
    - cant adjust the sight far enough to shoot underside black=bull at 6yrds. I can with my LP5
    - I have a non-safety LP5, the LP8 has an auto safety. I never use safeties

It dóes have some pro's vs the LP5 though:
    - scoperail (allthough I never use sights on pistols; too nervous)
    - in .22 available
    - 2 versions to choose from, black and silver
    - reach to the trigger is shorter. (the LP5's is too long untíl I take up 1st stage)
    - a tad less (sharp)recoil
Accuracy is the same. Sometimes I feel the LP8 is a tad easier to shoot.
I prefer glossy blueing too vs matte LP8 black.
Power will be similar too, both are sub 6Ftp anyway

So in short, imo the LP5 was better quality. Wasnt everything back than?

    Hope this helps,
    ATB,
    yana

Thanks for all the feedback, it was all very useful.

The general consensus seems to favour the LP5, but as these are no longer available new, I have now bought a new LP8 .177.

First impression is ... Wow what a quality pistol! It's very user-friendly and shoots well. Judging by the high standard of manufacture of this pistol, (hopefully) it should last for many years to come.

    Very satisfied

Congrats. You bought the black or silver 1? .177 or .22?

It's a bit cronky when you cock it, but as spring pistols go with a bit o poke , I much much prefer it to hw45s which I find a right bugger to cock.
It's got a much better trigger than the old one -P5,and is ambi, mine does 4.3 - 4.8 with a lot of pellets, and likes jsb 4/.51s best. A lot of dough for a pistol, but I missed my EB 20 which I should never have sold, but I've always had a problem buying air (or co2) for airguns lol
I like mine for plinking, and it gets used for despatch, when I stick in an rws shp, which at that range (close close), does the trick spot on. It's very accurate, I use mine with red dot -

Yes it noisy upon cocking. Something which the LP5 does nót have
    Triggers have creep as well
Something that the LP5 doesnt have either. Both go equally light
So imo, LP5 has better trigger, and is of better built quality.

    Older the better

I use one and do not like it . As Yana has shown sometimes older is better .

i owned a original 5g long time ago and regretfully sold it. i recently bought a diana LP5 on here which with fibre optic sights is very accurate. It has excelllent build quality with comfortable grips. There was a immaculate 5G in .177 on the sales sec just recently for very reasonable money and had to talk myself out of that one which wasnt easy. Look for one 2nd hand i would and get yourself a bargain for a cracking german pistol.

Are these pistols rare, the lp5 etc? There never seems to be many about, 2nd hand and there are very few reviews.

    Yeah a bit rare:
too expensive as plinkers on the side
    large and heavy
    allthough still not > 6Ftp
    not (semi)match

So the targetgroup for these pistols is ltd.
