Id an old record 1.77 air pistol

    Hi all

I have an old Record air pistol thats been kicking around in various cupboards for ages, does anyone know anything about them?
Is it worth rebuilding or is it scrap??

Depending on whether it has a smoothbore or rifled barrel, then by the current production it is a Model 1 or 2. It used to be the case that the Model 1 was smoothbore, fixed sights, and the 2 was rifled, adjustable sights - the same as the Model 3.

Originally, the 1 and 2 also had an open, exposed front sight; the different design of barrel casting with a hood seems to have been introduced in about 1983 or so with the large-gripped Model 3.

The new Browning Buckmark seems to be a reskinned version of one of these.

That struck me on seeing the photo. Its that cocking linkage that jumped out at me. I'm loving the buckmark for what it is by the way. ATB Pete.

Just a polite note, its .177 not 1.77 which is a considerably larger bore (like grenade launcher!)

    [Record] marque airpistols

luv pic. of your mod.1-;used to have one with un-hooded foresight and lubed with {cardgel proved plenty of guid smoothbore- fun shooting darts across livingroom:Also had an incredibly wornout mod."jumbo" so sent to [00record] with sketches of parts needed and got reply from Heidenheim factory prop.'chief designer Fritz Barthelmes who included with gratis-spares letter, various pamphlets about [record] products including his latest invention (circa nineteen ninety-three) the "champion" side-lever repeating airpistol -;turns out this rarity is fussy about pell feeding from in-line mag (running along action ).
Fritz's father worked for [walther] pre-war and designed the mod.P38 double-action service pistol;after war ]Record] started up furthewr west in blackforest making copy of the luftwaffe-issue survival pistol a drilling/derringer -type firing .22LR and 6mm. flobert (parisien manstopper).Note the [record] airpistols heve same grip as the {walther powder pistols e.g.mods.1/2/3 approximate PPK;mod.66 grip=P38; "JUMBO" =same heft as widely-issued bader/meinhof- era police pistole, a {walther manf.PP loading the low-penetrating spec."ultra" 9mm -;this round was popularised due to concerns of "thru &thru" in envisaged urban terrorist shootouts;[record]mod.77 had a petite anatomical -grip (RH) to fit right nicely the female paw and is a super little airgun.
believe that mod.1 is smoothbore(SB);mod.2 (RIFLED) fixed combat sight and mod.3 (aduustable rearsight);grips certainly seen in brown, black and white plastic over years factory output (year folded unknown and no answer to letters sent Heidenheim adress) Regards. Hu hellaxe
