I own a Sidewinder and don't target shoot. Target scopes are so focus fussy and all that massive magnification! Huge lumps of glass and mechanics! The Sidewinder is big enough.
But if I was to target shoot and want to compete then I'd have to have the precise range finding ability and have to use one of the more dedicated target scopes.

You really are tied to the specifications that your target shooting discipline demands. And then you need to master the techniques to get it all to work in one tac driving combo.
Ask the questions. Take the advice. Focus on what is important and then ensure you get what will do the job. Or you will only have to do it later.
Buying the kit that the competitive shots are using is the first step, but how you use it makes you the champion. To compete you do need quite specialised basic kit to start with. I'm afraid thats how its goes today, no short cuts.
