Even allowing for the extra shipping cost from Canada that's a big difference. Is that purely down to the different variant of tin, or just the peculiarities of e bay?
No. I tried placing a bid but a warning came up stating that "if you were about to buy football tickets, you will be declined" or something along those lines. Didn't make any sense. I was unable to place a bid.

The Canadian can is an example of the first post-war Webley oil can which was quickly followed by the second series with the spout being re-located to one side. The final post-war can was similar to the second series but had a reversible spout which was stored inverted within the can itself. The rarest of the three post-war cans is the reversible spout series, but pre-war 'Valvespout' cans are even rarer and can fetch £300-£400 on the few occasions they come up for sale. Webley replaced cans with an orange plastic alternative in late sixties which somehow never seemed to have the same appeal.

I would have expected the Canadian can in the condition shown to have at least reached the same price as the one just sold here.

    Regards

l think someone got a bargain with the Canadian one, as l think some intending bidders had the same trouble trying to bid as l did being diverted to (football tickets) , but it did sell to a late bid just before it ended so they must have got through ok.
    regards,
    Mick.
