The impossible I do immediately, miracles take 24 hours..
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE,IT JUST COSTS MORE
I use a Lee 1oz slug mould, Red Dot or Herco and used Magtech shells/cases/hulls.
It's been a long time since I loaded any but 18grains of Red Dot rings a bell! They cycled perfectly in my semi-auto and were quite accurate at up to 50 metres (with just a nipple for a sight ).
The felt wads came from Kranks, they were £4 for 250 so that'll give you some idea how long ago it was
Good luck

I use the 1 oz Lee mould.
18.5gn Red Dot
I use a roll crimper that goes in a cordless drill
I got plastic wads and cases in bulk from a friend who sells them
Fantastic and a lovely load to shoot
what sort of price does it work out at per cartridge?
Im just weighing up the options
bought a slab of slug, will see me through to probably about middle next year, but its not exactly cheap.
58p each
but Im wondering about the cost of a press, casting equipement etc, probably best to stay buying them, but wouldnt mind being able to shoot more of them if its cheaper to roll your own
Don't worry it only seems kinky the first time
I brought a Lee Load-All 2 press (was £19.95 back then but I think they're still inexpensive) it came as standard to load 12gauge.
Cost each. Geeze , at a rough guess, 25/30 pence each. The only extras I need are the powder and primers because I've 'collected' all the lead and hulls/cases I will probably ever need.
Good luck
Brian

I paid £23 for the roll crimper. Cordless drill is in my garage!
Lee 1oz Slug Mould about £20 (you can go for Lee 7/8oz mould, round ball, or 2 types of Lyman slug mould)
2nd hand Lee Loadall 2 £30
Stainless ladle from Wilkinsons £2.50
Couple of Stanless Balti dishes to melt the lead in £4.00
Lee ingot mould £10.00 or you can just use a brick with an indent in it (I prefer to cast ingots as I've already fluxed most of the crud out of the lead then)
Camping stove, already in the garage
2nd Hand Roll crimp £15 (but lee slugs can be star crimped with the loadall 2)
Wads, hulls, frangible disks (if reqd),primers & Powder at whatever price you can get them for (can re use hulls from your own stash or from your local clay ground)
You may find you already have some old stuff knocking about you can use.
I am quite certain that the argument you've already won in your head was entirely more satisfying to you than the one that is actually occurring.
