These are both great rifles - I own a HW97K and shoot a TX200 Mk 3 HC occasionally.

This isn't going to help you, I know, but if I was offered either of these two as an 'only gun', I'd be delighted.

I would carefully consider the condition and age of both rifles and also determine the state of tune of the HW97K.

You're really going to need to shoot the HW97K (ideally side to side with your TX) and decide whether or not you like it.

The TX is (to me, at least) more front heavy than the HW97K. The latter is (again, to me, at least) more balanced. It's a personal decision.

I'll discount the stocks as you plan to upgrade.

There's not a great deal to choose between the triggers - Both will benefit from being set up to your taste.

The TX is said to be the better rifle in an untuned state but I certainly don't feel disadvantaged when shooting the 97.

Which ever rifle I go with will be having a new custom stock

Although once the hw97 has been tuned it is a lot better than the standard tx200 and still costs less!

Just a few things to consider are,

one has a rotating piston/central transfer port and a proper ABT
also more easy to dismantle and the cocking link don't wear/crack and fall out.
Can you guess what one that is

I have chosen the 97 over the tx and am glad I did, dont like the ugly ratchet thingy on the side of the tx and don't like the silly chequering .Also my 97 is only 3 months old,its is smooth to cock and fire and I used it at club sunday and it was super accurate ,but in the end its personal choice.

Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

    I've owned both.

    I prefer the TXHC - it's a personal choice
