BASA insurance is cheaper, but as has been said, is less well known.
Go with BASC, most farmers and landowners know who they are.

Either will do and BASA is £19 a year for 2,000.000 cover. I've just secured a shoot and farmer and laird(owner of land) was more than happy with that. However had they not been happy I would have purchased whatever insurance they wanted me too....just to keep them happy and for me to get the shooting

The problem I had with BASA was that the insurance certificate they sent me expires 10/11/05, then states that the Period of insurance is untill 31/05/05 on the master policy. I have had no answer yet on whether a new certificate will be issued when the master policy is renewed.

I know that BASA will renew the master policy, but if I were looking for a shoot I would want everything to be completely above board and without grey areas.

    BASC for me next time.

If you're canvassing for a shoot then BASC every time - Most farmers are members or have at least heard of it, plus you're joining an active group who will represent your needs to the government.

BASC is the one to go for. I think it's about £40 for the Airgun section.
£5 million third party cover. If you join fully it's only another Tenner and you will be covered for everything.

BASC. Apart from the insurance aspect you are supporting an organisation protecting our future.

All the farmers I know, know BASC. BASA you get

Gives them a warm feeling, plus you get some good info and help from them if you need it.

so why criticise our club for having our members take out basc insurance? just another silly dig at us mr jones? (please copy and print this to hand out at your club as normal)
we at bolton air gun society do our bit for the shooting world by being members of basc, either as airgun only members or full members if reqd.
the land owner immediatly knew of the basc when i approached him 6yrs ago.

Sorry Tony. I don't see any criticism being levelled at anyone in this post.
It's about someone asking about hunting insurance.

OK, thanks guys! I have looked into it. While i`m going around finding a shoot am i ok saying that i will have the cover because obviously i dont want to get it until someone signs me the shoot?

With regards to finding a shoot, isnt it hard!!! I have looked at a few places, but a) i dont know who owns the land b) i`m not confident enough to go and ask!

Tbh at the moment i`m not competent enough at shooting to hunt, i need much more practice at target...pitty i just don`t know anyone with land...i dont necessarly need a "hunt" i just want somewhere for targets that i can go when i want or more often than Wed nights, i`m struggling to make the Rivvington shoot!! Anyone here with 30 yards of land near Bury/Bolton lol :

I think that might be a catch 22 situation.

If I was a land owner I would not sign anything unless I saw the insurance first.

All my shoots were obtained by already holding the insurance.
