Choosing the right rifle for my Son

I'm tentatively looking at purchasing an Air Rifle for club target shooting. My club owns an
Air Arms s200 which is well suited to the Juniors due to it's weight and size but I wanted to
know what other options were available.

I don't want to break the bank and am looking at the used PCP scene.

Anyone got suggestions on what might be suitable for a 12 year old?

I think the AA200 is yr best bet imo.
Also possible, the AlfaProj rifle, but it has some downsides.
I'd know some co2 rifles too (Tau 200, AlfaProj)but yr asking pcp

    Aa200

If you can buy one with the old 2 piece adjustable stock - its far better than the newer one piece

    Hi There

I'm currently doing the same kind of thing, I've got it down to a few, but they are not cheap:

    Daystate Huntsman/Regal

    FX Verminator MK1

    AA 410 Superlite

To be honest I'm struggling to find one at a decent price and in .177, I also wanted the multi shot capacity and a decent shot count of 70+, so guns like the BSA Ultra just don't cut it.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help guys. I have had a little look around before posting and you've
confirmed that there's not a huge selection out there.

wsnap: One of the club guns is an early model with an adjustable cheek. Would be
ideal for what my Son wants it for.

There doesn't seem to be much coming on the market at the moment. So will have to
keep one eye on the classifieds.

The Weihrauch HW100 is a great PCP Airrifle. Very accurate.

    Hi Andy
Are you talking 10 mt precision or FT?

If its 10mt then the choice is very limited at 12, as they are generaly just that little bit too small. I coach a school team at 10 mt and we find that the best bet are classic match rifles shortened and lightened. We use Original 66's shortened and the muzzle weight removed for our main squad but we do also have some AA200 target versions for the smaller development ones. They are very light and although they need the trigger carefully setting to get the best from them they are adequate.
I have also made a Junior FWB 300 by shortening the stock and removing all barrel sleeves and shortening the barrel, this works beautifully but is still a tad too big for 12 year olds, the good news is they grow very quickly, so don't spend a lot as you'll need to change it very quickly.
    Good shooting
