    Anschutz 1903 Bolt problem.

    Hi

A friend has just got an Anschutz 1903 ( Match 64)

The bolt was removed when he picked it up and he .... and me! ...... are unable to get the bolt to enter the action fully, it gets stopped by a guide bolt which doesn't seem to want to turn in line with the bolt handle.

We have just looked on the Anschutz website but cannot find any bolt stripping or installation instructions .... Does anyone have any ideas?

Guessing you've checked this, but first thought would be has the bolt been decocked? Briefly looking on the Anschutz site for the 1903 manual (available HERE), that recommends storing the bolt uncocked and to cock:
"Cock the bolt by turning the guide bolt and the bolt handle opposite to each other"

    Bolt_\-/

It sounds like the bolt has been manually un-cocked, all you should need to do is hold the bolt by its handle and turn the opposite end 90 degrees it should sort and it will go back into rifle.

    Hi

    Thanks for the replies
The bolt had manually de-cocked as you said but it had jammed so we could not re-cock easily.
A good clean and it's now OK!

    Cheers

Reminds me of the time my .308 bolt somehow decocked itself. That was a pain to recock....
