    Zeiss Diatal 4x32

    Good evening all,

anyone tried putting above scope on a springer? Looking for a good, light fixed power scope, but not sure if the Zeiss can handle the recoil/surge.
    Gun is a HW80 .22 running at 18 fpe.

I'm pretty sure that none of the Zeiss are warrantied for springer use and you might find it's PX'd at 100 yards.
I think and therefore...... I refuse to steal someone else's quote to try to sound more erudite or profound than I actually am.

    Hi Russ,

I am not so much worried about the parallax due to the low magnification, I just don't want to rattle an expensive scope to bits!
I approached Schmidt & Bender in the past, because I was interested in the 6x42 Klassik, but they clearly advised against putting one on a springer. They said their scopes are not made to withstand the two way recoil of a springer.
I did read somewhere that Leupold scopes are springer rated, was just wondering about the Zeiss. I guess I won't do it then...

Well of course there are springers and then there are springers!

A 100% hand fettled Venom HW80 is going to be rather different to an over-pressurized Theoben Eliminator at full chat.

I'd probably risk putting one on my SFS Specter - I wouldn't put it on much else....and I suspect it's at ones own risk.

Thanks for the replies! My HW80 shoots nice for a 18 fpe gun, but it did just destroy the reticule in a little Hawke 4x32.
Now looking into a Leupold FX-II 6x36, anyone has experience with this scope?

Zeiss told me they "couldn't see any reason that there scopes wouldn't be able to handle a gas ram powered air rifle as they had had meany conversations with different manufacturers in the industry" still seems a bit vague to me.., plus they couldn't be sure how to re-px a conquest...., If your after a fixed mag for your Springer, I'd say leup as well, if you just want a lovley scope, take a gander at the vortex range.. they seem to be excellent value but no fixed mag models.

The Welhams (Airmasters) seemed to be quite successful with zeiss optics on their mastersport FWB back in the day . I've got a 3-9x36 on a mastersport and it's fine .

Sensible advice. The scope you mention would make a superb .22LR/17HMR rimfire scope or even for use on a small caliber centrefire but I would have doubts about an FAC springer unless its been professionally tuned especially as its just destroyed a Hawke scope !
Personally, I'd go for something in the Bushnell Elite range which are spring gun rated and mount it on a Sportsmatch Dampa mount.
As an earlier Member suggested, the Vortex range could also be considered ?

6x36 Leupold is a great fixed power scope, had one on a fenman for 5 years with no problems at all.
