    FAS AP604 Project

I picked up the FAS AP604 that was at Diss Auction the other week. 59 quid all in, bargain you may think... it did need some work!!!

When I picked it up, the piston was separate the the pistol, and the piston pivot pin was missing. The piston had been pulled out the wrong way, and the felt washer was missing.

I stripped it the right way, put a single O ring on the front of the piston, put it back together with a cut down 5mm cap head bolt as a pivot, and it needed more, definite leak from the firing valve, but it could quickly pull a shot so I counted that as "working"
I ordered a seal kit from knibbs, and sourced a felt washer as most kits don't come with this.

Once the kit arrived, stripped the pistol down including the firing valve, and sure enough those O rings had crumbled.
Unfortunately, the kit had 2 in-correct sized O rings, but I was lucky to find 2 of the right size from another source

Pistol finally re-built, it worked fine, so I dressed up the 5mm bolt I had used as a temp fix, and peened the open side to stop it dropping out. A quick bit of cold blue to the ends of the bolt, and the release lever, all done.

So Bargain? It took a little work, but bargain for me!

Or it would be if I were right handed, I hoped my friend would like it when I finished it, he does very much, so he dropped me a ton for my troubles and has a very lovely, if a little worn round the edges FAS at a bargain price.

Some pics to follow as received:

It's not uncommon for FAS604's to use different size seals from one pistol to another Geoff.
IF IT'S NOT BROKE.........DON'T FIX IT!
