Temperature does have an effect. I took a couple of airsoft pistols to the club range on a cold day last year and noticed a pronounced drop-off in power. That was with green gas.
I can't comment on fast fire, sorry.
I'd be obliged if anyone could answer these questions for me.
Are these gases affected by temperature or fast firing, like CO2?
Does bb velocity gradually decrease with their use (as per CO2) or just drop off suddenly?
Arthur
I wish I was in the land of cotton.

I think any gun powered by a gas which is held in a compressed, liquid state will suffer from a small drop in performance caused by the fact that the liquid will not boil off into a gas as effectively once the valving arrangement is cooled down by very rapid firing, this effect is exacerbated by low ambient temperatures.
Far too many guns to mention here. Lets just say more then the wife knows about but still less then I would like
Many thanks for your replies.
You confirm what I suspected. I wonder if they produce ice like CO2 can do.

Yes, they can. Most gases held in a liquid state will adhere to the same laws ( Boyle's, I think).
But. .. having owned dozens of airsoft guns and airguns for many years what I can say is this.......
Rapid firing a gas powered airsoft pistol is more consistent and less affected than doing the same with a co2 powered air pistol. Both are affected by cooldown, but the airsoft gun slightly less so.
Also, pistols made from mostly abs plastics are less affected than all metal guns.

Airsoft Pete!?
Shirley not!
Amazed.
Oh yes ! Running through woodland in full military attire trying to kill the enemy without getting killed yourself.....great fun.
Or at least it was up until a couple of years ago when the arthritis stopped me in my tracks. I was the oldest fool in the club at 63 until I could no longer outrun that steady stream of white bb's.
At least it was harmless fun.
In future I think all global conflicts should be settled with airsoft weapons.........much more humane.
Don't tell me you haven't fancied a go Patrick..?......
Pete.
P.S.
What attracted me to airsoft was not the actual skirmishing but being able to own some fantastic ,lifesize working replicas of my favourite guns.
Thompson
Mauser k98
M1 Garand
M1 carbine
AK47
Colt 1911 A1
Luger P-08
Sig P226
Mauser C96. To name but a few.
Ok
I do have white balls.
And some pistols to shoot em with.
Purely for research purposes.
All jokes anticipated.
Jokes..?. It's no laughing matter having white balls.....especially as they are only 6mm diameter. Whereas I , of course, have balls 8mm in diameter......to fit my Marushin M1 Garand ( gbb and the clip ejects after the last shot....yeeeeeehaaa)
64, nearly 65, acting 16 again and not ashamed.
Pete.
I too have these:
Mauser k98
M1 Garand
AK47
Colt 1911 A1
Luger P-08
Mauser C96
for the same reason - how else could I ever own them?
Plus Walther P38, Beretta 92FS, and a Wilson Combat Supergrade which is a superb pistol apart from being WA and having a magazine which impossible to gas up
Everybody is at it!
The Garand is a cracker Pete.
There is no point in being an oap if you can't behave like a kid.
One of my best mates is my 3 year old grandaughter.
I think you need a nozzle extension to fill your Wilson mag Steve.

I taught my grandaughter Daisy to shoot practical pistol at ,10 years of age, with an airsoft gbb Glock 17. She is now13 and is a very accomplished pistol shooter. If ever we get our licences back she would be a contender.
I know practical is still shot with airsoft pistols , but there are no clubs in my neck of the woods.
Airsoft pistols have enabled me to pass on my shooting skills to a youngster who is now confident at shooting and who could , if the situation ever arose, handle and shoot the real mcCoy which could be a lifesaving skill.
It is such a shame that these guns are not more widely available ,thanks to the ill thought out VCR bill.
Pete.
