Had an Edgar bros one with no seriel number. Still got the barrel fitted to what was originaly a .177k version but now fitted with a .22 Venom kit. If yours in a Hull one then you'll find Edgar Bros ones were much earlier.

Hull is stamped on the barrel anyway. Mine had Edgar Bros along the scope rails. I'll have a look at mine but being a K model originaly it would be newish anyway.

    Hw80

This one is marked GB but no other marks. So who did import the first HW80's? No agent no stamp me thinks? So a gray import if you want to take notice of Hull Cartridge advertising!!. Mach 1.5

" Ironically, delays in the production of the R1 stock, which required larger stock blanks than the shorter, rather Germanic HW 80 stock design of that time, resulted in the HW 80 being introduced a little before the U.S. debut of the Beeman R1 in late 1981."

I found this list on the web and thought it would interest some of you. It's seems serial numbers were not model / type related but included everything done in order regardless. I dont know how accurate it is or if it is official but here it is anyway. Maybe those that know the true age of their own rifle could shed some light as to wether it is acurate or not.

Ah well Mr Bellycrawler I can answer a few of those questions for you as I wrote the list in the first place --- though it seems to have been added to with some later serial numbers, which is great because it's what I hoped would happen.

    1951 weihrauch started production.

The 100,000 numbers were published in Airgunworld in the early 1980s.

The one millionth gun was a gold plated HW35 and was featured on Airgunworld front cover in 1983.

Leather seal to synthetic seal serial number was published in the Airgun Book by John Walther.

The change point from 25 to 26mm on the 77 is from Chambers' and VMac's websites.

Introduction dates for the different MKs of 77 are from adverts in Magazines and Jim's announcement in SAR.

Most of the rest of the serial numbers and dates are taken from German, American and Italian websites with the dating coming from Emails from Weihrauch.

I just stuck everything together one night when there was nothing on telly and stuck it up on the BBS in the collector's section ---it's everywhere now.

    All the best Mick

Just googled & waded through the junk, that list seemed about the best one. Started something good & worthwhile by the look of it.
