On the back of a very sensible question around batch numbers on another thread, I realised that I do not know of two that are alike, nor do I know of any collector who does. SO, is there a potential matched pair out there?

Update 2016: several have now been identified but this shared information is best applied to the Premier model only.

PLEASE ONLY INCLUDE DETAILS OF PREMIER AIR PISTOLS IF YOU ARE HAPPY TO SHARE THEM.
Ideally state the Series Code Letter, Date stamp from under left grip and Batch Number

THERE IS NO NEED TO INCLUDE DETAILS OF OTHER WEBLEY MODELS as unlike date coded Premiers, it is impossible to accurately glean sufficient information from post war Juniors, Seniors and Mark Is.

The purpose of this thread is to record as many known post WW2 batch numbers for the Mk1, Senior and Junior air pistols. No need to post pics yet but if two are identified with the same number, then we'll look for further details. We just need to be mindful a pistol may have changed ownership over time and we need to be sure we are not recording the same pistol twice. It is also possible two pistols with the same apparent batch number may be identified, which were made years apart but share the same number. Again, these examples will warrant further study if and when they are encountered.

I have a mk1 pistol with batch number 032

serial number is in the 41 thousands (cant remember the exact number)

Just to make sure, this is the number stamped at the front of the gun?

Hi,

Post-war Webley air pistols did not carry Ser Nos, but did have Batch Nos stamped at the front of the pistol. The pre-war Mk1 pistols were stamped with Ser Nos to the left hand side of the frame just under the trigger guard.

I have a Webley junior stamped 403 on the end of the barrel how do I know if it’s a mk1 or 2

If it’s painted and has a label or a cutout for a label on the right hand side it’s a mk2, slide barrel catch mk1, U shaped barrel catch mk2.....
Batch Number won’t help.

I have just obtained a The Webley "Junior" 177.
Birmingham 4 model.
Serial number 252.

Shoots a good group at 5 metres BUT about 5 centemetres away from aiming point, at 2o'clock.
How can one re-allign that barrel? The parts are so solid.

Premier large stamped E, painted finish with sticker inlet , reinforced sintered catch, batch 69 dated 3 74 under grip

Don't know whether this list is being kept up to date but have added mine anyway

Both Premiers now added to the list. Your painted finish pistol is the earliest one known on the list.
