You can't go far wrong with an HW45. I love my .177 to bits.

HW45 is the finest spring air pistol you can buy. Get it in .177

I have a 45, its great, but maybe OTT for your use? (And its not a break barrel)

Maybe consider a Diana/Original model 5, or even a 6 if you can find one.

Failing that, there's plenty of Record, Gamo and even the HW70 to choose from.

I have a problem with the HW 45, it looks like a 1911 Colt Automatic Pistol (and not an air pistol)

If its an Air Pistol then I like it to look like one ! ie. Walther lp 53, Webley Prem/Senior/Junior, Beeza Magnum etc. and many others.

A .177 Webley Junior would be ideal !

Beautiful little British air pistol !

As you say break-barrel: +1 for the Original / Diana model 5 (recoiling) or model 6 (recoilless).

Mind you, I've not shot a HW70 (yet).

Stiff trigger but you can get used to it. Breakbarrel. Cheapish. Plinker. Browning Buckmark. Love mine! Surprisingly good groups are possible at 6yds. Its not very powerful but for garden, fine. ATB. Pete.

what about trying to snag an El Gamo Center - nice little underlever with pop out breech, safe for little fingers. IIRC theres been a couple on here for sale recently.

For a youngster try the Browning Buckmark.
Cheap stylish and easy to use.

He can move up to the .45 later.
    Ditto Peteswright which just read!

Sorry but the fwb65/80 is a much better pistol however the OP stated break barrel, I own an original 6 and it really is a lovely pistol.
Also take a look for an original 5 or a bsa scorpion.

+2, the buckmark is a great gun for young 'uns.
The trigger however is a little heavy, but that can be an advantage sometimes when teaching juniors.
    Good deals with these members

Hi as it's a break barrel your after try looking at the new Benjamin Trial its a reasonable size break barrel I haven't shot it just something I found while mooching online supposed to be very easy to use & as very new should be light I really think a Scorpion if you find a good one is difficult to shoot for a youngster im still trying to master it!
