I use those packing foam kernels; the ones that look like cheese puffs. They are the perfect size to go in the case neck, compress to the thickness of paper when fired and nowadays are made from cellulose so they are bi-degradable. But for black powder I suspect you will need something a bit denser as black powder likes to be compressed.

I use Pufflon in my MH rounds.
I'd endorse the http://www.reloading.org.uk/ link, the owner shoots in my club & knows his MH stuff.

Do NOT use glass wool - it will melt and form an imoveable residue in the barrel.

Only use a natural material, or one that is completely consumed in the flames!

Brug IKKE glasuld - det vil smelte og danne en klæbrig rest i tønden.

Brug kun et naturligt materiale, eller en, der er fuldstændig forbrugt i flammer!

http://www.pufflon.com/ its a ballistic filler, and lubricates/cleans. It can be used in any round not just BP. I bought a tub a few years back off the bay, haven't finished it yet.
