get a better mod,as its pointless and could be dangerous reducing a load
Has anyone got a recipe for a reduced .243 .75grain load?
Cheers
Paul
.......Yes that's right darling, I got this entire rifle/scope outfit brand new for £300!

What will you be using it for?
Hodgdon's site has some loads for Trail Boss with 100gn bullets, normal formula with TB is fill a case to where the bullet sits in the neck, weigh the charge then reduce to 80% of that and work up to 100%. Never exceed 100% as TB doesn't like being compressed and can lead to high pressure if the donuts are broken.
TB loads have very mild, if any recoil, and are quiet.
Also, Hodgdons H4895 (ONLY) can be safely reduced by 40% without danger of flash-over. Go to their site and research before loading - rather than just taking my word for it!
They have a section on 'youth' loads which makes interesting reading.
A heavier bullet may well lower the velocity and noise - at the expense of a trajectory like a golf-ball.
Truly 'quiet' loads are going to be subsonic & that opens up a load of new problems and issues.
I ran a .270win with a 14" barrel - not the ideal companions at first sight, but when coupled with an LEI end of barrel can, heavy (150gn) bullet and low velocity, ended up with an awesome combination for sub 200m shooting. Deer legal but very little recoil, meat damage or noise - in fact the signature sounded like a gas escape, though the super sonic 'crack' was always present.
From 200m, it was almost inaudible.

Cast boolit around 75gr and about 4gr Viht 310. Should reach around 1000fps.
Clean the barrel of all the copper residue before using cast boolits.
Blue dot powder is excellent for reduced loads, there's plenty of info online about the velocities and bullet weights etc
My kids (and I !) love using my rifles with TrailBoss loads, but the H4895 info is new to me and is something I'll def. look at now.
No, .222, 22-250 and 7mm-08. Have a look at http://www.imrpowder.com/PDF/Trail-Boss-data.pdf
Subsonic at the bottom end, depends what you want to do with it. I use mine for plinking, they are not fast enough to properly initiate expansion with expanding ammo so it's paper targets only for me.
.243 blue dot recipes and data
not mine but the good ones worked very well apparently
