From Stoeger to Webley - much better

I'm just getting back into air guns after a 25 year break and have picked up a few pieces recently. A couple weeks ago I bought a Stoeger X20 .177 preowned from a local dealer and it was, in my opinion, rubbish. I couldn't zero in the scope and gave up today, took it back and traded it for a preowned Webley Vulcan .22.

I was drawn in by the fancy looks of the "composite" (aka plastic) stock of the Stoeger but I've realised that the old fashioned design of the Webley is still best for me.

So it looks like I'm developing something of a Webley habit!

Now on the hunt for a nice .22 Senior or Premier

The old Webleys are fine, just keep clear of the new ones.

Ah, really? Was there a cross over year? I'm guessing something to do with relocating production?

All current Webley rifles are made in Turkey and have been for a few years now. They aren't all bad, but you can do better.

The Turkish built Webley are noticeably poorer quality than the Birmingham built ones.
I have Birmingham built raider 10 and have had both side by side and you really can tell.

    Stoeger X20 .177

Shame about the Stoeger as I had one in .22 and it was great and spot on But webley you cant go wrong they have been around for a long time and they have got it right so it was a good exchange in my eyes.

Some of the new ones are not so bad, just much cheaper to buy them with the manufacturer's name on (ie Hatsan).
