    Dri Slide moly replacement ?

Anybody tries the product by Gulf described below ?

MultiAuto Super Molybdenum Disulphide Lubricant is a specialist lubricant designed to extend the life of wire ropes, cables and chains.

Suitable for use in a wide range of environments this lubricant dries to a smooth semi-liquid form. The molybdenum disulphide additive resists high temperature breakdown and forces water out of metal pores.

Ideal for use on fork-lift trucks, conveyors, hoists and any quarry and mining equipment.

In the compression chamber (after honing), I use graphite powder with great results.
It is as slippery as hell and after an initial cloud, it stays in the chamber and gives a fast lock time

Thankfully these days, there are lots of alternatives to the sadly missed Dri-Slide.

    Just a few :-

Ambersil Moly Spray. Another spray (KG-10?). You can buy moly powder from Chambers. Have a look on the Drake Tooling site (thank you, Bigtoe01) for their diverse range of moly based greases and other product, including moly spray and Molyslip Open Gear Lube. T20 once also pointed out the JCB equivalent. Some even use the cheaper CV joint moly grease, fortified with some moly powder. BBS member, of magicninedesign, also offers a range of moly grease, paste and oil.

That was JCB hammer grease I used to put on spring ends, I use John Deere special moly grease now.

For moly on the cylinder walls I've used this for over 30 years:-

This has a very quick drying carrier so I use a bit of cellulose thinner to move it around when linishing it in.

    All the best Mick

I'm sure I've heard before that this stuff is excellent, but not cheap.
