BSA Airsporter Mk11 (1959-65) and BSA Scorpion pistol

    Hi

I have been asked by Mrs JS to dispose of various items of the late JS who was a regular at Kibworth until very shortly before his passing to the great airgun range in the sky.

So firstly I'm looking for a couple of valuations:

BSA Airsporter Mk11 .22 in very good visual condition, Serial Number is GD33### which according to BSAOG is 1959-65. Some minor scatches on the blueing, very good wood work and fitted with period BSA 4x20 scope Serial Number 87### (Japan). Doskosport hard case.

BSA Scorpion Pistol .22 s/n RB50### (1972-94) Good condition complete with rear sights and cocking arm, very close inspection shows some rust spots on the barrel. Requires new barrel washer. When I last fired this some months ago it dieseled so guess it could do with a strip and relube. Modern unbranded hard case.

Thank you in advance for your contributions

Hi Chris, it's difficult to value rifles in the current market conditions.
Older rifles still have their appeal to many and the Mk2 Airsporter is usually a good seller.
Values range from £125 - £250 for a good shooter in nice condition, perhaps a little more for a 'minter' with good /clear cylinder etching.
These prices from private - Trade, so probably not much help to you. (others may disagree with values)
I am not an expert Mate - I just love these old rifles.

ASM, thanks for your reply. Thats the sort of price range I have seen on other sites.

If have taken some photos so I hope that will enable people to narrow the price range.

Crikey! Your description does these two no justice, especially the Airsporter, this is why photos are essential. The Airsporter must be worth nearer £250 than £150, the Scorpion is more difficult, its a small picture, but typically these will go £90-120 and in the condition you have there I would have thought £100. But I'm no expert on old BSAs.

Here's my opinions. I recently bought a mk11 in near mint condition with the airsporter writing still in fantastic condition on top of the cylinder. Along with that I got the original box. The walnut stock is in as new condition too. Now, I would value that at between £300-400.
I also have another mk11 which although still nice would probably only value that at £100-150.
If I knew how to put pics up I would upload a couple to compare cindition.
    Hope I've helped a little.

The Airsporter shown is near a 'minter' as I suspect it's near to get Chris, I would say, certainly worth a lot more than £250 to a 'collector' that wants one - it's finding someone that has that kind of money that's after a lovely Mk2.
I would value it at circa £300 - £350 mate but again, I don't class myself as an expert.
I would love to have a MK1 in that condition!

All the best with your sales!

I would put a value of around 250 pounds on the Airsporter it may well be worth more, but realistically expect it to realise little more than 200 pounds.

Just looked at the pics and is the same condition as mine. The only difference is I have the original box which would value it higher.
You are still looking in the region of 300 I would say but like has been said, you need a collector thats willing to part with the money. I collect airsporters so mines going nowhere.
Good luck with it anyway mate.

Airsporter - £300 if it has the original foresight protector, shoots OK and none of the screws have been molested.

Scorpion - no idea I'm afraid.
    Happy Shooting!! Paul.

I have added some more photos to the link showing the screw head and the foresight as these have been mentioned previously.

I have no idea on the originality of the components although they all look the correct period.

Definitely £300 for the Airsporter. I bought one less than a year ago in the same condition.
    Happy Shooting!! Paul.

£300 for a MK11 Airsporter whatever would be the value of a minty MK1 £350
