Best of luck with this repair. It'll be interesting to see whether you can get enough strength in it to handle the various forces applied when cocking the rifle etc.

HI, It does look like diecast now I have seen this...How are you going to attach the plates?...If you have room I would go for 3mm steel on these with maybe drilled and tapped holes...If you want to bond and bolt / rivet I can sort you out a pre weighed kit of toughened epoxy which they stick aircraft and race cars together with, but the bonding area will have to be bare metal and keyed with abrasive, and pre-cleaned with acetone for it to do it's stuff properly.

Will need a 24 hour cure at 30 centigrade, or 8 hours at 90 degrees, and it will really stabilise the plates, but they will still need a mechanical fix like screws or rivets.

P.M. me if interested with an address and I will sort some out (It comes in tins and needs to be very accurately weighed to give best results).

18 Wheeler, that's no fence it's the maximum security, dog friendly, door panel!

Ed, thanks for the support. Will keep it in mind. Still aiming for faithful mechanical lock via flitch plates without piercing the frame.

Garvin, gut feeling is that most operating stress is along the frame any side separating force is minimal and contained by snug fit in the outer case.
Will test the theory first of course.
